Why Sports Betting will spread

On May 14, 2018, the United States Supreme Court found the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), the federal law prohibiting states from authorizing sports betting, to be unconstitutional.

What I want to explore is the changing the landscape of sports betting and how new technologies are changing the landscape of wagering on everything to Football to Badminton.  As of today there are 17 places in the United States to Bet on sporting events.

New Jersey
Pennsylvania
West Virginia
New York
Mississippi
Delaware
Washington DC
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Montana
Nevada
New Hampshire
Oregon
Rhode Island
Tennessee

With over 20+ states considering allowing sports betting in the future.

One thing to also consider is that you can signup for mobile betting on these new apps without being a resident of the legal state.  All you need is to be inside the location of the state when you deposit money, place the bet, and when you want to withdraw money.

You also must be over the age of 21 to use these mobile apps.

If you are in the area of West Virginia or New Jersey you can check out there mobile sports betting app here.  Draft Kings

If you are in the area Pennsylvania, West Virginia or New Jersey you can make sports bets here
Fanduel

You will not see these apps in the apple store, or the google play store since these are gambling apps and are not allowed.

Will explore more about the different types of bets you can make in my next post.
